Summer’s coming, don’t load up on cancer causing sunscreens. You read that right.
You can see on this graph the highest melanoma rates are in locations that really don’t get as much sun as some southern states.

What’s going on with sun exposure and skin cancer?
Dermatologists, who diagnose and treat skin cancers will tell you the sun is your enemy and slather yourself in sunscreens to protect yourself.
The graph above shows the sun exposure alone, can’t be the issue. San Diego is sunny like 360 days per year and Oregon is cloudy and raining 250 days per year. You can argue that a place like Minnesota is sunny quite a bit, but half the year, nobody’s skin is exposed to the sun. Notice that generally, those southern states have lower rates of diagnosis than northern states.
Now, I don’t know who uses the most sunscreen. But, if I were guessing, I’d guess the pasty pale white northerners don’t skimp. Consider the adage, if you wouldn’t eat it, you should not put it on your skin because it absorbs. The chemicals in sunscreen are toxic and carcinogenic themselves. You probably shouldn’t heat them up in the sun and get your pores open because it is warm.
This is not true for old school “physical barriers” like zinc oxide. The white paste on the lifeguard’s nose blocks the sun’s rays physically. It’s like blocking rays with a hat or shirt.
Sunscreens have been shown to block UVB rays. They haven’t been shown to reduce cancer. Here’s an interesting graph showing skin cancers are increasing.

And here’s volume of sunscreen produced and purchased.

These graphs should go in opposite directions. As sunscreen is more used, cancers should be reduced. But, they are both increasing.
The good news is that mortality rates haven’t changed much.

On the other hand, here’s serum vitamin D levels and skin cancer rates graphed. We suggest people keep their serum vitamin D levels at 60ng/ml or higher. You can see skin cancer is no even on the graph any longer at that level. Most people who don’t use supplements have levels of around 25-35. The highest rates of melanoma below are for those at 15 or lower.

It requires about 5,000IU per day to maintain about 40-50 levels for adults. Kids should use 1,000IU per 25 pounds of body weight. If you have gut issues, you need to take 10,000 IU per day to be able to absorb enough to raise blood levels. Vitamin D3 with vitamin K is absorbed in your intestine better. But, either one will do. If you are using blood thinners, it’s best to skip the vitamin K because of K’s ability to prevent blood clots. It will add clotting time to your blood thinner’s effects already.
And as always, keep your white blood cells called killer T cells healthy and active by getting adjusted. Killer T cells kill viruses and cancer cells. Those levels go up after you are adjusted. Incidentally, the mRNA shots for covid damaged killer T cell levels in recipients and we are seeing cancer incidences exploding and quickly progressing to untreatable.
The best play is living a natural healthy lifestyle. Include organic foods, avoid toxins, colors, pesticides, preservatives, bad fats and get adjusted. That’s what the cool kids do. 😊
